I believe in working towards a world where all people regardless of race, sexual identity, gender, ableism, weight, etc feel they can be their authentic self in the world. There are many societal norms that lead to thoughts and feelings that we label as “bad”. People are meant to feel “othered” if they do not look, talk, or act a certain way. We need to be honest with ourselves and look at how these systemic stereotypes and injustices may be affecting the way we think, feel and behave. I have a passion for social justice and it’s important to me that access to mental health be an equal opportunity for all.

I value a collaborative approach with clients where my clients feel safe enough to be open and honest in therapy. I take an active approach in therapy and will point out when thoughts, behaviors, or feelings seem to be negatively impacting my clients or interfering with leading a valued life. There will always be emotional pain in life and learning to continue to function in the face of this pain is key. Being able to recognize when our thoughts or feelings are contributing to this emotional pain and working to lessen this burden is just as important.

I have experience working with individuals who feel they don't fit into the societal norms of what is acceptable and this area is also a passion of mine.

Additionally, I have experience working with substance abuse, depression, anxiety, bipolar, OCD, ADHD, binge eating disorder, bulimia nervosa, personality disorders, and trauma. I combine elements of CBT, ACT, and DBT based on what my client needs to work on.
